Introducing the Crossroads Amp Do you ever get tired of not being able to get the tone you want out of you ramp because you can’t crank it to level where it sounds best? I have the solution, check out the Crossroads Amp. It’s based on the Fender 57 Deluxe amp, but with lots of goodies built in to increase versatility and preserve tone at just about any volume level. Two controls are added; the Power and Drive control. You still have the 100% untouched 57 Deluxe with both cranked. If you back off on the drive it cleans up nicely and you can find it even gets a full bodied clean jazz sound. Back off on the power and the sound stays the same, but at lower volume. What also helps to makes this work is the Celestion Blue Speaker, which keeps its classic sound at home, in the studio, and at clubs with amazing results. Another development is the addition of a switchable negative feedback loop with variable frequency control. The Feedback Circuit (aka ‘Presence’ in other amps) improves the headroom and gives you more punch before it starts to growwwlll. I decided to redesign the input stage after some field testing. The inputs are wired so that when you plug into the ‘Bright’ input, it is also fed to the normal input making both volume controls active. If you plug into the normal input, then just the normal volume control is active. And oh yeah…the first stage of the preamp takes on a higher gain tube which the Power Scaling and Negative Feedback controls can tame to taste. B Sharp Crossroads B-Sharp@Live.com
